Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

Photo courtesy of the Cooking Corner.

Sometimes the best recipes are right under your nose - or on the back of the box. In this case, I was inspired by a recipe right on the back of the chocolate chip package. These peanut butter bars were so easy to make and use just a few ingredients that are common baking items.
They look almost like a brownie, but are more firm and less crumbly. Even with melted chocolate on top, this snack isn't overly sweet and travels well in your hand. These will make a perfect "game day" dessert.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars
1 cup creamy or chunky peanut butter
6 T. butter or margarine, softened
1-1/4 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (11.5-oz.) Milk Chocolate Morsels, divided

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Bars ready for oven.
Beat peanut butter and butter in large mixer bowl until smooth. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla extract, beating well. Mix in flour and salt. Stir in 3/4 cup chocolate chips.

Spread into greased or spray coated 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until edges are light brown.

Sprinkle top with remaining chocolate chips. Let stand for 5 minutes or until chocolate chips are shiny and spread over the top.

Cool completely in pan and then cut into bars.

Makes 2 dozen bars.
