Green Chili Burgers

Photo courtesy of the Cooking Corner.

Everybody loves a burger, but sometimes it's good to change them up - add a little spice, a new flavor or some new toppings. Ranch dressing and taco seasoning packets are an easy way to add some variety to your plain old burger, but a can of green chilies can do the trick, too. These burgers are so moist and the chili flavor really mild. A little bit of cumin and paprika add to the "smoky" flavor and this is perfect topped with a pepperjack cheese and just for fun, instead of mayo, I used some spicy ranch.

Green Chili Burgers
1-1/2 lb. ground beef
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/4 tsp. cracked black pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 small can (4 oz) green chilies

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until well combined.
Shape into patties and place on plate. Return to refrigerator until ready for cooking.

Heat grill to 300 degrees. Place burgers over direct heat, but low flame. Cook 7-10 minutes, rotating for hot spots. Flip and cook another 10 minutes until juices run clear.

Good topped with pepperjack cheese and/ or pico de gallo.

Serves 6.
