Cherry Delight

A classic Midwestern favorite is Cherry Delight. My mother made it when we were kids and my sister picked up the torch and brought it to family gatherings. I just recently got the recipe - hard to believe but true. This is a dish that's a must-do at pot luck dinners, church socials and any family event. Thanks so much to my friend's wife for sharing it with me.

Cherry Delight
Crust -
1-1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 stick of butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Filling -
1 pkg. Dream Whip
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup cold milk plus additional 2 tsp. milk
1 cup powdered sugar

Topping -
1 can cherry pie filling

Soften butter and cream cheese.
Make Dream Whip according to directions and set aside.
Make crust by mixing graham cracker crumbs, butter and powdered sugar in medium bowl. When well combined, press into the bottom of a 13x9x2 glass baking dish. (10x10 would work also)
To make filling, beat cream cheese and 2 tsp. of milk with mixer on medium speed until soft. Fold in Dream Whip. Spread over graham cracker crust.
Top with a can of cherry pie filling and refrigerate until well chilled.
