Cajun Burgers

We were running low on food items the other night, so I stopped by the store and found burger on sale. What could be easier than some greasy, cheesy Mom burgers? When I got home, I started mixing the spices in the burgers and the got interrupted by kids, grandkids, and a few projects, so I let the meat groove with the spices overnight. When hubby and I got around to dinner last night, I threw some new red potatoes in water to cook and shaped the meat into big thick patties as we got the grill going. I let hubby take over and in about 20 minutes of cook time we had some primo burgers. He believes in the theory of "letting it rest" after cooking. It works out well.

Cajun Burgers
1-1/2 lb ground beef
1 T. Cajun spice
1 t. onion powder
1 T. minced garlic
kosher salt
ground black pepper
splash of Worcestershire sauce (couple teaspoons)
4-5 drops of hot sauce

Combine all ingredients mixing well. Let burger set for an hour up to overnight. Shape into 4-5 large patties and let chill while grill is heating or pan is warming. Sprinkle a little more Cajun spice on outside of burgers for a bit of a crust.
On grill over medium heat cook burgers 10 minutes on one side, rotating as needed. Flip burgers and cook about 5 minutes longer. Serve on buns spread with Creole mustard and stacked with lettuce, tomato and onion.
