Southwest Queso Dip

It's in the air - football. Finally, it is time for snack foods, buffet laden tables and tailgating. We can once again break out the crock pot and have some football TV time, if you can't afford to do real tailgating.
This is a quick easy dip that can be made two ways depending on the time and ingredients you have. How can you go wrong with cheese? To make it even better, Kraft has come out with a new flavor that melts like a dream.

Southwest Queso Dip

1 lb. chorizo sausage, browned
1 can Mexican tomatoes with chilies, drained - OR the following ingredients -
4 Roma tomatoes, diced fine
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
and -
1 T. cilantro, chopped
1 16 oz. block of Queso Blanco Velveeta, cut in 1/2 inch cubes

Microwave directions - Put all ingredients, except cilantro, in microwavable bowl and heat on high 3-1/2 minutes, stirring after a couple of minutes, until cheese is completely melted and well blended. Top with cilantro.

Crock pot Directions
Combine all ingredient in crock pot and turn on high for 30 minutes. Stir to blend and turn to low for another 30 minutes. Top with cilantro and turn crock pot off. Reheat on low as needed, stirring often.

Makes 3 cups.
