Every now and then I like to try something new with burgers, whether it be a new spice, stuffing them with some type of cheese or finding a new method of making them. Recently I had used chipotles in adobe sauce for another dish and decided to add some to your typical hamburger. They turned out to be very moist and the chipotles really made the flavor pop. It didn't have much heat, but it was a distinctive taste that my crew found fun and different.
Grilled Chipotle Burgers
1 lb. ground beef
2 chipotle peppers with Adobo sauce
1/8 cup onions, diced fine
1 tsp. minced garlic (from a jar)
1/2 tsp. McCormick's Hamburger seasoning
4 smoked cheddar cheese slices
condiments of choice - mayonnaise, lettuce, onion, tomato, etc.
Mix ground beef with chipotle peppers, onion and garlic just to combine. Shape into 4 hefty patties. Sprinkle both sides with seasonings. Refrigerate until grill is ready.
Spray coat grill and heat to medium high, about 300 degrees. Cook over direct heat about 8-10 minutes per side, rotating as needed. Place cheese on top moving to indirect heat just until cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes. Remove to plate and then assemble as preferred.
