Apple Crisp

Apples are an all-American success story-each ...Image via Wikipedia
After an incredibly long hot summer, fall is finally here. With fall comes the apple harvest and all the treats that fruit brings - applesauce, apple pies and cobblers. This recipe from my friend, Eva, brings back a grade school favorite, apple crisp. This is a new twist on an old classic.

Apple Crisp
5 Granny Smith apples
1 9 oz. Package yellow cake mix
2 T. sugar
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preparation -
Peel, core and slice apples. Place in deep dish baking pan.
Combine cake mix, sugar, cinnamon, butter and nuts. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle mixture over apples. Bake in 350 over for 35-40 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm. Great with ice cream on top.
