A few years back one of the guys at work and I made a Superbowl bet involving food. If my team lost I was to bring a batch of my chorizo chili to work. If his team lost he had to provide some grape jelly meatballs. I won and his meatballs were great. This was the dish that he brought to my wedding reception years ago and I've been looking for the recipe ever since. I tried to "wing it" once and did not fare so well. The flavors were all out of balance and the meatballs were way too sweet.
Recently I was chatting with the wife of another coworker and she had the recipe. Happy dance time! I'm so glad to finally have it, I had to share it.
It's a perfect company/party dish. You toss it all in the crockpot and the guests serve themselves.
Grape Jelly Meatballs
1 pkg. (72 ct.) frozen meatballs
32 oz. jar grape jelly
4 squirts of ketchup
4 squirts of Worcestershire sauce
Warm jelly in crockpot on high until completely melted. Pour in BBQ sauce, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce and mix well. Add meatballs and stir well to combine.
Cook on medium until cooked through and sauce is melted thin, a few hours.
Variation - add 1/2 pound sliced smoked sausage.
