Creamy Potato Soup

Creamy Potato Soup---I'm hungry

A friend at work let me taste a sample of her Creamy Potato Soup. It's supposed to be based off of the soup at Rafferty's. I couldn't tell you about that, but I can tell you that it's really good.
I took a sample taste of it cold and it was really good then. What does that tell you? Yum! At the request of a few friends, here's a good one. It's just right for warming up on a cold night now that cold weather is here.

Creamy Potato Soup
6-7 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
1 medium onion, diced
1 (8 oz) pkg of cream cheese
1/2 to 3/4 stick of butter
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 cup milk

In large saucepan, cover potatoes and onions with water and cook until tender. Do not drain. Add cream cheese and butter and stir until melted. Add soups, garlic salt and milk. Stir until blended. More milk may be added. Serve hot.

(I would have to top this with crumbled bacon and cheddar cheese just because those are my basic food groups that make any meal better.)
